Finland has one of the best records in terms of road transport safety. On the other hand, road accidents are common in India. Many people lose their lives in India every year because of road accidents. So, it is nice to see that India is seeking the help of Finland in this regard. Financial Express reported:
“India will sign an agreement with Finland next month to enhance cooperation in the field of road transport, Information and Broadcasting Minister P R Dasmunshi said.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the Union Cabinet.
The Memorandum of Cooperation would be signed during the visit of Road Transport Minister T R Baalu to Finland during November 1-2, he told reporters here.”
Finland is a highly developed country. The people here are very innovative. One Finnish company, Nokia, has already become a familiar name because of its mobile phone sets. I think that India can also get benefited from Finland in planning and management of roads and highways.
Finland has a very good public transport system. In fact, the public transport system is so developed that Finish citizens own less cars on an average than the other rich European countries. So, India can indeed get a lot of benefits from Finland and India badly needs it.

"Finland has one of the best records in terms of road transport safety."
That was interesting news to me. I didn't think about this being an important issue. Another thing we could be proud about is the educational system that has been prised as one of the most advanced in a PISA study made by the European Union.
