Business 2.0: A Lesson For Madona and Maldives Hotel Owners

Famous American singer, Madonna, has decided to spend this Christmas outside America. She was planning to do it in Maldives, but later changed the plan because the hotel they have chosen charged a lot of money, $450,000. I am quoting from the report published in contactmusic.com:

"Superstar MADONNA is reportedly taking her adopted son DAVID to a tropical island for his first Christmas with his new family. Madonna and husband GUY RITCHIE initially planned to bring the whole family to the Maldives, but changed their mind when a hotel reportedly demanded $450,000 (GBP250,000) for them to have the whole place to themselves for one week."

After adopting David, her son, Madonna wanted to do something special for him. She and her husband Guy Ritchie decided to go somewhere far from hue and cry. So they chose Maldives.

Few days ago, I have written about Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes doing their honeymoon in Maldives. This is great news for Maldives. However, I am really disappointed at the short sightedness of this hotel owner. Madonna, Katie Holmes, Tom Cruise are some of the big names in American show business. They are famous all over the world. Whatever they do always goes at the front covers of the cinema magazines all around the world. Tourism is the main money making sector of Maldives. If celebrities like Madonna, Tom Cruise, and Kati Holmes visit Maldives, it elevates the country's profile as a tourist site. What the hotel owner should have done is to give Madonna and her family special discounts and offer their best services. Madonna is an international celebrity. There is a good chance that Madonna's pictures in Maldives would have been published in many famous magazines. This would be a great publicity for Maldives tourism sector. As a result, many western tourists would become interested to visit Maldives. Instead of thinking about the long term profits, the hotel owner became greedy and tried to make short term profit. Definitely this is a bad decision. Anyway, what has happened can not be changed. I hope that in future the hotel owners think about how to make profit in long terms.

hey Madona u yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

Maldives is not a cheap destination! dont expect peanuts to pay! in fact the people have not much to do with these kind of events! As it have no direct impact at all, to thier life either the economy, basicaly the benefit go to directly to the pocket of the resort owners!

I suggest the writer to more research. Maldives is anything BUT cheap, infact its one of the most expensive destinations in the world. if you look at the figures maybe you can comprehend what the asking figure made sense. one room or suite pernight would cost something like US$2000 - 5000. Madonna wanted the WHOLE place for TWO weeks, That means , rebooking ALL the guests and allocating them to other resorts. At the late date it would be next to impossible to find places to fit them, because during x-mas and new years its fully booked. and I am pretty sure the hotelier would have to pay through their teeth to satisfy these cutomers. And these cutormers would not be all day to day normal tourists. So why should it pay special interest in Madonna? just because she is famous? well so are the others! and she shouldn't expect preferential treatment based on her status. and it looks like she swollowed her exppectations and made the trip anyway. !

HEY WRITER DID YOU EVER VISIT MALDIVES IF NOT BETTER YOU VISIT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT THE MALDIVES.
