It is true that Bollywood is not very popular as Hollywood but the Indian movie market is not negligible at all. In a research conducted by the famous management consultancy firm, Price Waterhouse Coopers, the following data has come up:
- The present size of Indian film industry is $1.75 billion and it would become 3.4 billion in the next four years.
- In the next four years, the Indian home video market would grow five times from its present size to $467 million
- Other segments, such as, mobile gaming and internet advertising would grow eight times by 2010.
I think the above statistical figures are enough to understand the potential of Indian film industry. According to Farokh Balsara, partner, Ernst & Young, India is the final frontier for Hollywood and the studios cannot afford not to be here as the market is growing very quickly with lower production cost and higher profit margin.
This is very good news for the Indians and Indian film industry. More investment means more growth and more jobs. A film not only becomes successful for the actors, actresses and directors. There are hundreds of people who work hard to make a successful movie. The whole thing is a team effort. So, finally HOLLYWOOD INVESTS IN BOLLYWOOD!!!
