The only meaning of life left is to help those that cannot help and feed themselves.

When you see the headlines ‘cold wave killed so and so people’ it does not come with a tagline “Most of the houses of the poor did not have insualtion/brick wall” let alone heating system. It may be noted that even the lower middle class urban people with brick walled houses usually survive. But most hit are the people living in bamboo huts or living on the streets.

As these types of low temperature is becoming a phenomenon a massive audio-visual campaign is necessary on how to stay warm and safe. Local people may be encouraged to set up temporary shelters for street people. Distributing warm clothes may not be the ultimate tool as the poor people may sell it for food. It is linked with poverty, which is a big problem and should be tackled with collective efforts.

We must remember that cold waves do not kill but poverty does.
