Jiah received formal training in opera. She has a passion for music and dancing. She knows how to play the piano. Before coming into films, Jiah was planning to bring out a pop album but she could not continue for the lack of money. She has been learning different kinds of dancing for nine years. She knows five different types of dancing: belly dancing, salsa, lambada, samba and Kathak. However, acting is her most favorite.

Before landing with her role in Nishabd, Jiah was chosen by Mahesh Bhatt, another famous Bollywood director, to act opposite Emraan Hashmi in Tumsa Nahin Dekha but in the eleventh hour there was a change and Dia Mirza did the movie. She even had a relationship with Emraan Hashmi.

When Ram Gopal Varma offered her the role, she was sixteen years old. At that time she was not sure whether she would be able to portray a character older than her.

Compared to other new comers of Bollywood, Jiah Khan is very fortunate as she got the opportunity to work with two most famous figures in Bollywood; one is Ram Gopal Varma and the other is Amitabh Bachchan. Although she is 19 year old, she has proven her talent as an actress.

When people work with Amitabh they become very nervous and forget their dialogues. However, Jiah was totally different. Before coming to India, she did not know that Amitabh Bachchan was a very famous Bollywood celebrity. Her behavior with Amitabh Bachchan was very professional. When she was asked about her feelings when she did kissing scene with Amitabh Bachchan, she replied that her training in Lee Straisberg’s institute helped her a lot to deal with these types of situations. 

Working with Amitabh Bachchan, Jiah learned three things how to be patient, how to smell good, and how to give disapproving looks.

Nishabd depicts the love story between an old man and a young girl.For a debutante, working in such a role is definitely something uncommon. It was a big challenge for Jiah Khan and she faced that challenge successfully. Ram Gopal Varma is very much impressed with her work.

Aside from acting in the movie, she sang one of the songs “Take Lite." The lyric was written by Jiah when she was sixteen and she also composed music for the song. The song actually reflects Jiah Khan’s character and her philosophy in life. When Ram Gopal Varma heard it, he liked it very much and requested her to reproduce the song. Last but not the least, Jiah choreographed the song herself and did a little Shakira style hip shaking.

Miss. Jiah Khan has very good knowledge about perfumes. Amitabh has a good collection of colognes and every day in the shooting he used to wear different colognes and smelling them Jiah could tell the brand of the perfume. Before working in the movies, Jiah spent some time in perfume factory. 

Recently, Jiah Khan met with Orlando Bloom in Venice. Jiah was holidaying with her friends and Bloom went there to attend a film festival. The two met at a bar named Cipiriani. With her long hair, Jiah caught Bloom’s attention and after knowing that she was an actress the two chat for some time. Bloom does not have any knowledge about Indian cinema except that Mr. Amitabh Bachchan is the most famous actor of Bollywood. 

A prominent analyst commented that Jiah would be as big as Urmilla after the release of Nishabd. Four big film production houses have already approached this young actress but she did not accept their offers as she was under contract with Ram Gopal Varma until the release of Nishabd.
