Education: Amitabh attended Allahabad's Boys' High School. Then one of his friends lured him to get admitted into Nainital's Sherwood College. From there, he went to study at Kirori Mal College in Delhi University and earned a degree in science. He has double M.A degree.

Physique: Amitabh is six feet three inches tall. He has a slender body with lanky arms and legs. This is why directors were not interested to take him in the films. He has a deep baritone voice which made him very popular. He lent his voice as background narrator. The tragic thing is, before coming to the movies, Mr. Bachchan applied for a job in All India Radio but he was rejected for his voice.  

Early life: Before joining movie, Mr. Bachchan used to work in a shipping company in Calcutta.

Debut movie: In 1969, he got his first break in Saat Hindustani directed by Khwaza Ahmed Abbas. The movie did not do well but his performance brought him his first National Film Award.

First successful movie: Zanjeer in 1973. In this movie, Jaya Bhaduri played the female lead role. The two eventually fell in love and got married that same year. The duo later appeared in many other movies: Abhimaan, Chupke Chupke, Mili, Sholay, Silsila and Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham.
