Amitabh Bachchan, the megastar of Indian movie, is going to work with Hollywood megastar Johnny Depp. The two actors just gave their consents to work in Mira Nair’s next movie project Shantaram. The movie is based on Gregory David Roberts’ novel Shantaram. Johnny Depp will be doing the lead role in the film. The story is about an Australian convict who travels around the world and finally comes to Mumbai where he gets to know Mumbai gangster Kader Bhai (Amitabh Bachchan). In the movie, Amitabh would play the role of Depp’s mentor. In order to prepare for the character, Mr. Bachchan will read the novel.

Mira Nair, who has made movies like Salaam Bombay, which won Golden Camera award in Cannes Film Festival and nominated for Oscar, Monsoon Wedding which won the Golden Lion award at the Venice film festival, is busy in promoting her latest movie The Namesake. The pre-production work of Shantaram will start on April and the shooting would start in November this year.

This is not the first time Hollywood and Bollywood actors are working together. However, Shantaram will get special attention because for the first time two superstars of Hollywood and Bollywood will be seen together in one film. This movie is definitely worth watching.
