Bangladesh is one of the most densely populated countries in the world. So, land is very important here. The number of people in the major cities is growing rapidly. Dhaka is burdened with nearly 10 million people and most people do now own a house or an apartment. According to Wikipedia, 14,608 persons live in each square kilometer in Dhaka. So, the price of land, houses and apartments is only increasing all the time. That is why; I did not feel surprised to see many people visiting Rehab Fair, Dhaka-2006. I visited the fair on Thursday at Hotel Sheraton Dhaka. This fair was organized by Real Estate Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB). More than 100 real estate companies participated in the fair. Of course, the price of the plots and flats were beyond the reach of the majority of the people living in Dhaka.

I was happy to see that more and more real estate companies and banks are now interested to provide loans and installment facilities to the consumers. I talked to Tamjid Nur, a credit analyst at Standard Chartered Bank here in Dhaka. He informed me that his bank was supporting the would be buyers with loan. In the fair, the bank had a stall in which the consumers would give some information and then Standard Chartered officials gave them credit assessment. I was happy to see this kind of facility in Rehab Fair, Dhaka-2006.

Real estate is going to remain a thriving sector in Bangladesh. However, only the rich people are getting all the benefit from the development of this sector.
The aim of this fair is very good. If real estate companies help general people according to their commitment, it will be the great opportunity for the people.
