The title of the film is “Nishabd” which means "Silence," but in reality it is making lots of buzz and noise. Director Ram Gopal Varma should have titled it “Silent but Problematic.” Speaking of the title, another production house, Kanungo Media Private Limited, has filed a law suit against Ram Gopal Varma's production house on the infringement of copyright act.
The plaintiff, Kanungo Media, claimed that Ram Gopal Varma intentionally stole their title. A Bengali movie titled “Nisshabda” was produced ten years ago. It was a documentary movie produced with the finanical aid of the French government. The movie won numerous awards including Osian's Cinefan Festival Asian Film Award and 'Coup De Coeur Guimet Award'. The director of the movie, Jahar Kanungo, approached the court that he has the copy right of the title and their legal counselor asked to stop the release of the film.
It looks like both Ram Gopal and Amitabh Bachchan are in serious trouble. The people of India are protesting, and the high court will declare its verdict on the day of the film's release. If the film does not do well, it would be a major black mark on Ram Gopal Varma's reputation.
