This is simply great and Indian fans are today in a very happy mood. Irfan Pathan has got the green signal from Indian selectors about playing in World Cup Cricket 2007. He suffered from injury in the recent months. So, there was a cloud of uncertainty hanging over Irfan Pathan’s participation in World Cup Cricket 2007.

Indian cricket board chief selector Dilip Vengsarkar on Sunday said that Indian speedster Irfan Pathan is fit to play in the World Cup in Caribbean. This decision came after Vengsarkar saw Pathan’s performance in a match between West Zone and Central Zone for Deodhar Trophy.

Pathan however could not take many wickets in today’s match and gave too many runs in his quota of overs. Pathan took two wickets and gave runs at the rate of 5.53 runs per over.

On the other Vengsarkar declared Pathan fit for World Cup.

Indian squad does not have any recognized all-rounder. Irfan Pathan is the only player who goes closest to the definition of an all-rounder. So, this would come as a sigh of relief for the Indian team. Of course, Irfan Pathan is not in great form at the moment but his inclusion will make Indian team stronger at World Cup Cricket 2007.
