So often we criticize the players for their attraction for money than for the game. Of course, not everyone is like this and there are some exceptions.
Sydney Morning Herald reported:
Oram, who fractured his left ring finger taking a catch during the Chappell-Hadlee Trophy one-dayer on February 16, has four custom-made splints protecting the damaged finger.
Painkilling injections are another option and, if all else fails, Oram made the startling and presumably serious admission that amputation was a consideration.
"If it means cutting the finger off, if that's the worse case scenario, if that's the last resort, I'll do that, there's no way I'm missing this," he said.

I am shocked at the decision of Jacob Oram. Yes, he is a good player but I do not like to see him cut his finger for playing in World Cup Cricket 2007.
