Along with satellite television channels, Nishabd is also being promoted on internet. From now on, movie fans can log on to the homepage of MSN India and visit the portal of Nishabd. The portal offers free screensavers and wallpapers and movie fans can post their comments about the movie. I am quoting from the report published in Hindustan Times:

Wish to ask why Amitabh Bachchan’s character romances a young girl in Nishabd? Or a personal account from Jiah Khan about her sensuous debut opposite the megastar?

Or, master-director Ram Gopal Verma’s experiences about his latest silver screen sizzler? Then, all you got to do is type in http://in.msn.com and log onto the special portal that RGV has tied up with MSN for his upcoming film.

On the portal is space for people to post their comments and reviews of the film, some of which will be answered by the Big B, the young petite Khan, and the director himself.

India is no stranger to internet. The country has a very well established IT sector and a thriving outsourcing industry. With the number of computer and internet users growing every year, Bollywood film makers are now trying to promote movies through internet. In 2005, director Prakash Jha tried to promote his film, Apaharan, through interactive blogs, where people could post comments about the movie but it did not generate much response. Still, internet is becoming more and more popular; like Ram Gopal Varma and Prakash Jha, other film makers should consider internet for promoting their movies.
