Sourav Ganguly, the legendary batsman of world cricket, has been one of the most consistent batsmen for Indian cricket team in the last few months. Indian cricket team has recently won a series against Sri Lanka where Sourav Ganguly played an important role and became the Man of the Series. The former captain and legendary batsman of Indian cricket, Sunil Gavaskar said that Ganguly had to play a leading role in the upcoming World Cup Cricket 2007 in order to bring out another success story for India like World Cup Cricket 1983.

Sourav Ganguly needs to fire if India want to win the World Cup,' Gavaskar said.
The former India captain was here to release the book 'Sourav Ganguly: Maharaja of Cricket' penned by renowned journalist Debashis Dutta.
'He needs to give India the kind of start they need to bring home the World Cup. We need him to play a solid innings at the start of the innings,' he said.
Terming Ganguly an excellent captain and player, Gavaskar said: 'The Ganguly factor has worked wonders for Bengal. Bengal has been passionate about cricket in this part of the country, but there were not many coming into the national side from here. But with Ganguly that is gone.'
'We have a young brigade of cricketers from Bengal who, if given a proper chance, will shine for India,'

Sourav Ganguly has come back to the team after a year just a few months ago during the India’s tour to South Africa. In 2005, he was dropped from the team due to his so-called bad form and as a result, he got out of the team and lost his captaincy. Since his coming back to the team, he is getting run continuously which is a positive sign for this veteran batsman and the best reply to his enemies.
