Mr. Amitabh Bachchan is the most successful actor in Indian cinema. He enjoys a “DEMI-GOD” status in India; but why this six feet three inch tall slender guy is so popular? What is so special about him that makes people go crazy? Here are some of the things that make Amitabh Bachchan a great actor, a great human being and one of the most popular celebrities in India.

Versatility:

Amitabh is a versatile actor. Although his rise to fame can be attributed to “ANGRY YONG MAN!!!” movies like Laawaris, Zanjeer, Don, Trishul, Muqaddar Ka Sikandar, Suhaag, he did not limit himself in only AYM movies. Along with action movies, he proved his acting talent by doing romantic comedy movies like Mili, Abhimaan, Ek Nazaar, Kabhi Kabhi, Chupke Chupke. In Kaala Pathar, Amitabh played the role of Captain Vijay Pal Singh, who was dishonorly discharged for abandoning his ship and its passengers. His ability to portary different roles successfully makes him a great actor.

Amitabh’s sense of professionalism:

Another most important thing about Amitabh is his sense of professionalism. In those days, it was a trend among superstars to appear late at the shooting spot, and demanding various facilities from the producers. Amitabh has changed the trend. After becoming a super star, he did not give into such unprofessional behaviors. He is known to be a very punctual and disciplined person.

Middle class upbringing:

Amitabh comes from a middle class family. He was born in Allahabad. Son of Harivansh Rai Bachchan, a well known Hindi poet, Amitabh is a very well educated and learned person himself. In those days, a career as an actor was not very popular among educated Indian middle class youths. Amitabh came and changed that scenario. This middle class upbringing also gives his actor image a great appeal. Many of his “AYM” movies’ plots are based on the struggle of an educated middle class young man.  

Jaya Bhaduri:

“Behind every successful man there is a woman.” This may sound like cliché but I think it is hundred percent true for Amitabh Bachchan. Amitabh got married to Jaya Bhaduri in 1973. Together they worked in many movies. When they got married, Jaya was a very successful actress. However, she left her film career and became a house wife and gave rock solid support to  Amitabh althrough his career. Indian society is a male dominated society and males are considered to be superior over females but no matter how strong or superior they are, a woman can make a man a COMPLETE MAN and Mr. Bachchan is a living proof of that.
