Earlier today, Indian selectors announced the 15-man Indian Squad for ICC Cricket World Cup 2007. The selectors had gone for experience over youth and did not want to take too many risks. First let me give you the names of the 15 players:
Rahul Dravid (captain)
Virender Sehwag
Sachin Tendulkar (vice captain)
Saurav Ganguly
Yuvraj Singh
Robin Uthappa
Mahendra Dhoni (wicketkeeper)
Dinesh Karthik (wicketkeeper)
Anil Kumble
Harbhajan Singh
Irfan Pathan
Munaf Patel
Zaheer Khan
Sreesanth
Ajit Agarkar

Notable absentee is perhaps V. V. S. Laxman and Mohammad Kaif. On the other hand, there has been a lot of discussion about Virender Sehwag and Irfan Pathan. These two players have not performed well in the last few months. So, many observers were doubtful about their inclusion. If they perform badly then many people would surely criticize the selectors after the World Cup.
On the other hand, Indian squad is without any all-rounder. You may call Irfan Pathan a promising all-rounder but I think that he has yet failed to keep his promise as a good all-rounder.
The team is not bad on paper. It has 6 good batsmen. Both of the two wicketkeepers can bat well. Then we have 7 bowlers (including 2 spinners).
What is your view about the Indian squad? Are you happy?
