Sri Lanka is not the hot favorite of ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 but I would like to consider it as a dark horse. Sri Lanka has some great players in the team who can upset any team in the world. Sri Lanka won World Cup Cricket 1996. After that their performance in the last 2 events was not impressive. This time, they have a good chance to make amends of the past failures. Sri Lankan selectors have announced 15-man squad for ICC Cricket World Cup 2007. The players are:
Mahela Jayawardene (capt), Kumar Sangakkara (wk), Marvan Atapattu, Sanath Jayasuriya, Upul Tharanga, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Russel Arnold, Chamara Silva, Farveez Maharoof, Chaminda Vaas, Dilhara Fernando, Lasith Malinga, Nuwan Kulasekara, Muttiah Muralitharan, Malinga Bandara
I am a big fan of Sri Lankan team and I wish that Muttiah Muralitharan can show his magic in this world cup. I would love to see Muttiah Muralitharan shine in this world cup and this event be remembered Muttiah Muralitharan World Cup.
Sri Lanka has a strong bowling line up. Fielding is their strong point. The leading batsmen need to perform better in order to make some upsets in the tournament.
