Doping is a major problem for the sports world. Fortunately, cricket world is still relatively free from doping scandals compared to other sports. However, ICC has become very active and strict about drugs and this time, ICC is going to take every measure to carry out regular doping tests during World Cup Cricket 2007. Barbados government's forensic laboratory will be the pace in this regard.

IHT reported:

Barbados government's forensic laboratory will serves as a satellite office for the World Anti-Doping Agency, which will be responsible for conducting the tests when the tournament starts, Barbadian Attorney General Dale Marshall told reporters Friday.

"We have partnered with the University of London and they have an excellent laboratory which is very highly regarded internationally," Marshall said.

Testing World Cup players for illegal substances started in the 2003 tournament.

I am very happy that ICC is becoming strict about doping. Of course, I would like to see different cricket boards getting tough and take a zero tolerance attitude against drugs. I hope that doctors at Barbados Forensic Laboratory do not have to become too much busy in finding offenders.
