Sourav Ganguly, the most successful captain in the history of Indian cricket, is now the bastman in form in the Indian Cricket Team. In the last three series against South Africa, West Indies and Sri Lanka, he played an important role in the batting line up. The owner of more than 10000 runs in ODI cricket got out of the team a year before and lost his captaincy due to the so called bad form (and in reality politics). However, he has proved that performance is for a short time but class is permanent and came back to the team, though he has not got his captaincy back.
Now the World Cup Cricket 2007 is knocking at the door and Rahul Dravid is still the captain of the Indian cricket team. It is true that Rahul Dravid is one the most reliable batsmen for Indian batting line up and a he is a good reserve wicket keeper but as a captain, I think he lacks maturity. Technically he is one of the most prolific batsmen in the history of world cricket but as a captain, he needs to be technically strong. On the other hand, Gangly led India in the last world cup and reached at the final despite having a weak team. He could inspire the team as a whole and could help each of the players psychologically. As a captain, I think he is one of the best captains ever seen in the history of cricket. In the last world cup, played well and his excellent performance inspired the other players to play their best in the last world cup cricket 2003 in South Africa. However, this time, Rahul Dravid himself is not in a good form. It seems that the burden of captaincy is too much to handle for Dravid and it is adversely affecting his form.

So, Gangly should have been given back the captaincy of Indian cricket team for World Cup Cricket 2007. However, Sourav Ganguly is still in the team as a senior member and Dravid can take help from Sourav Ganguly in any situation.
