Malcolm Conn may not see any scope for Australian team to win World Cup Cricket 2007 but Team Australia has received strong support from Sir Garfield Sobers, one of the top Cricketers in the history of World Cricket. His name and achievements are so famous that I do not need to say even a word about him to introduce him to you. He believes that the current Australian squad has enough talents to face any team in the world.

The Hindu reported:

The world champions were whitewashed 3-0 in the one-day series against hosts New Zealand which finished on Tuesday, having only just lost 2-0 to England at home in the finals of a triangular tournament.

The three-times winners have also been hit by injuries.

‘I think they will now realise what they have to do and they will get it right by the time they arrive in the Caribbean,’ Sobers told reporters during a visit to India.

‘Australia is always a force to reckon with. (But) I think they should have waited until after the World Cup to play the series,’ he said referring to the Chappell-Hadlee series with New Zealand.

I am sure that Australian players would feel delighted that the great Sobers has stated them as the favorite for World Cup Cricket 2007. However, they should not get too much delighted. Their current performance does not give them much scope to become complacent.
