Lee faces up to three months out after damaging ankle ligaments during a fielding drill in practice last week.

The 30-year-old's absence adds to the holders' problems ahead of their title defence in the Caribbean with big-hitters Andrew Symonds and Matthew Hayden also doubtful.

Symonds recently underwent surgery on a torn bicep and Hayden broke a toe in the last match of the Chappell-Hadlee Series against New Zealand.

Of course, Brett Lee is devastated with this news. Playing in the World Cup is like a dream for each and every cricketer in the world.
