Mushfiqur Rahim is one of the talented young cricketers of Bangladesh team who are thought to be the future asset for the team. This young wicket keeper had his Test debut in Lords stadium, England in 2005. He became the youngest cricketer to have appeared in Lords ever. Playing in Lords is a dream for every cricketer. He was 16 years old while he played his debut Test match against England in 2005.
As a wicket keeper, Khaled Masud has been the first choice of Bangladesh cricket team for many years. So, Mushfiqur Rahim first got chance for his good batting performance in the age based international tournaments. So, there was a lot of controversy in Bangladesh about leaving out Khaled Masud. However, since Bangladesh performed very well in the two warm up matches (against New Zealand and Scotland) before World Cup Cricket 2007 began therefore this controversy has died down.
It is true that the Bangladeshi selectors have gambled on this young star for the world cup mission but it is his responsibility to prove the selectors right by performing well. I think he can make the Bangladeshi middle order stronger and balanced. He should be sent to the wicket at the middle of the innings; neither in the power plays not in the slog overs.
By the way, in the opening match against India, Mushfiqur Rahim took the catch to dismiss Sachin Tendulkar.
