Cricket is the most popular game in India. From March 11, The ICC World Cup Cricket 2007, the biggest and the most popular event in cricket, will start. Hat Trick mainly shows the spirit of cricket in real life. The movie’s story is similar to that of Salam-e-Ishq. In Salam-e-Ishq, there are six inter woven stories. In Hat Trick there are five stories. The fifth story is a fictional version of Indian Cricket team. There is one common thing about the characters in this movie and that is love for cricket.

Madhav Anna vs. Dr. Satyajeet Chavan: Madhav Anna’s role is played by Danny Denzongpa, and Nana Patekar plays the character of Dr. Satyajeet Chavan. Madhav Anna is a famous leg spinner and a very energetic person. On the contrary, Dr. Satyajit is a very pessimistic person. He does not like cricket and do not allow others watch cricket in his hospital. Madhav gradually changed Dr. Satyajit’s attitude towards life and the two becomes good friends.

Hemu Patel: A janitor in Heathrow Airport, Hemu Patel is a die hard fan of cricket and never misses any match. He is very popular among his friends. For the past 16 years, he has been living in London as an illegal immigrant. Hemu is ready to do anything to become a citizen and he always try to show that he loves England very much. However, the citizenship officer, Mr. Cook, figures out that he is actually faking. Gradually, all his friends live him and he finally faces the bitter reality of his life. Finally, when he is granted the citizenship of England he does not accept it and his friends forgive him. The character of Hemu is played by Paresh Rawal, another famous actor in Bollywood.

Sarbjeet Singh and Kashmira: Sarbjeet is an ambitious but struggling actor who instead of hoaning his acting skills does more poojas and fasting and throws big parties with the film directors and producers in his house. Since he is a richman’s son, money is no problem. A big fan of cricket, Sarbjeet likes Kashmira, a beautiful airhostess who lives across his apartment. The two eventually fall in love and get married. Soon, they discover that they are so opposite to each other. Despite Kashmira’s attempts to save the marriage things become messy. Finally, Sarbjeet realizes his faults and once again with his honest efforts he wins back Kashmira’s love.

All these stories actually reflect various aspects of cricket. Madhav Anna and Satyajit’s story is about optimism and undying sportsmanship spirit. Hemu patel’s is finding one’s true self and real strength. Sarbjeet’s story is about hard work and diligence. Cricket is known as “the glorious game of uncertainty” and life is also like a cricket match. Life is filled with lots uncertainties but with hard work, determination and consistency, uncertainties can be reduced problems can be solved. The movie Hat Trick  shows  how the  qualities of a  good cricketer can make one a  better person.
