Ireland has made the world astonished with their stunning victory over the former world champion Pakistan yesterday in their second match of the ongoing World Cup Cricket 2007. With this defeat Pakistan team has been eliminated from World Cup Cricket 2007.  Earlier, Ireland, in their first match, tied with comparatively stronger side Zimbabwe. In that match, opener Jeremy Bray scored an unbeaten century.

So, Ireland has already created much attraction in the cricket world. Having seen their performance from the begging of the world cup, it is hard to believe that this is their first world cup tournament. Another thing is that this is the second time Pakistan has been defeated by a new comer in the world cup. Earlier in 1999 World Cup, it was Bangladesh who got a historic victory over the Pakistan.

I think that with this victory, Ireland is now on the verge of getting into the super eight stage as Pakistan has already been out of the tournament. Even if Ireland loses their upcoming against the host West Indies, they are likely to go into the next stage.

World Cup Cricket 2007 is indeed like a Cinderella story for Team Ireland. They have come and seen and won. I really wish that this superb performance of Irish team will make cricket more popular in Ireland.
