Sri Lanka Bangladesh: Sri Lanka Scored 318 Runs

Sri Lanka is playing Bangladesh in World Cup Cricket 2007 today. Sri Lankan innings just finished and Sri Lankan batsmen scored an imposing total of 318/4.

It is a very impressive score and Bangladeshi fans would surely feel disappointed now. The star of the Sri Lankan batting was Sanath Jayasuriya. He scored century in the match. He was injured and went off batting but then towards the end he came back and scored a great century. All the top order batsmen performed well. Mahela Jayawardene, Kumar Sangakkara and Chamara Silva scored well too. They hit a lot of boundaries and over boundaries. Really, I enjoy Sri Lankan batting a lot.

Rain disrupted the match for some minutes but then it became ok.

I have to admit that I was extremely disappointed with the performance of Bangladeshi bowlers and fielders. Fielding was not up to the mark at all. There was a number of run out chances missed and dropped catches. None of the Bangladeshi bowlers could dominate against Sri Lankan batsmen. The spinners were really terrible and Abdur Razzak gave away 86 runs in his 10 overs. Only 4 wickets fell and all the wickets because the batsmen tried big shots.

Bangladeshi batsmen will have to work really very hard if they want to win this match. Even, I am not sure if they can win this match. The last thing I want to see is that they try to score quickly and get out cheaply. So, I feel that they should not go for winning the match. Instead, they should try to play sensibly and score as many runs as possible so that even if they lose their run rate will be good enough to put all the pressure on India.
