World Cup Cricket 2007: Bangladesh vs Australia

(I know that many of you are coming to read this entry through Google search. So, in addition to writing a new entry, I am giving the update of the match here.)

Bangladesh has scored 104 Runs for 6 Wickets

Bangladeshi innings has just finished now.

The match has been reduced to 22 overs because of delay of rain. Australia won the toss and put Bangladesh in batting. Bangladeshi batsmen could not bat well from the beginning of their innings. Glenn McGrath caused havoc and wiped out the top order of Bangladeshi batting. Saqibul Hasan and Habibul Bashar (captain) could offer any resistance. Towards the end Mashrafe Mortaza scored some quick runs. Mashrafe Mortaza is turning into a good all rounder gradually.

Glenn McGrath was surely the star bowler for Australia. He took 3 wickets for 16 runs from 5 overs.

I would have love to see Bangladesh scoring 130+ runs as it would give them a fighting chance against Australia. Well, I have to sadly admit that I am not so hopeful about the prospect of Bangladesh in this match. However, cricket is a game of glorious uncertainty.

Before the beginning of World Cup Cricket 2007, hardly anyone thought that Bangladesh would go into the Super Eight stage and play against Australia. I wrote that Bangladesh might play against Australia in the final match of World Cup Cricket 2007. Well, I wrote it on February 19 and some people laughed at me for writing it. However, after Bangladesh performed well, the time for laughing has finished and many people have started to take Bangladesh seriously.

Bangladesh is going to play against Australia on 31 March 2007. This is the first match of Bangladesh in the Super Eight stage. On the other hand, Australia has already defeated the West Indies in their opening match of Super Eight stage. Bangladesh defeated Australia in 2005 in an ODI match. Millions of Bangladeshi fans are hoping for a repeat to that again on this Saturday. On the other hand, the Australian fans would love to see their team crushing Bangladesh in this match.

What do you think about the outcome of this match?
