It is an Indian community and according to their customs, their son-in-laws should become a Gharjamai because they give a large amount of dowry to the boy’s family. What would have happened to Abhishek if such customs had been followed by the Rai’s? India Times reports:
For, as per some Bunt customs, the girl’s family gives a huge dowry to the boy’s and brings him into their house.
Delighted with the match,
The Bunts, a land-owning 15-lakh strong community of agriculturists, spread almost equally in coastal Karnataka and Mumbai, are worshippers of the 'bhoothanatha', a spirit god. If Aishwarya’s community has its way, she will get married in the typical Bunt style, complete with a mantap decorated by arecanut bunches and jasmine. The engagement ceremony takes place in the bride’s house.
Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya’s marriage had already faced a tough time for Aishwarya being a manglik woman and if Abhishek had to be a Gharjamai then there would be no doubt that Aishwarya would bring bad luck to poor Abhishek. Lucky for Aishwarya that such customs are not observed by her parents.

Yes, I also think so. Abhishek Bachchan is luck in this sense. However. I do not know if Ash's family will give dowry to Abhishek Bachchan maintaining their custom.
