
I am sad and shocked that Aishwarya Rai has decided to take the surname of her husband and will be called from now Aishwarya Bachchan. Of course, there is nothing wrong in it and millions of women across the world take the surname of their husbands after marriage.

Aishwarya Rai, Bollywood's hottest bride, will take her new husband's famous name to become Aishwarya Bachchan, said her father-in-law, Indian superstar actor Amitabh Bachchan.
Rai, who married Abhishek Bachchan last weekend in a gala affair dubbed ``the wedding of the century,'' has already signed an autograph as Aishwarya Bachchan, the family patriarch told in an interview to a daily published on Thursday.
``She desires to use Bachchan as her surname,'' he said.
Aishwarya Rai should have gone for Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and this way she could keep her identity intact. Anyway, she is just an actress and she has her own likes and dislikes. If she has decided to keep name intact and not taken the surname of her husband, many women in

What's there to be sad about and what encouragement would her keeping her surname have given to other women?
She is more liberated than any of the agony aunts in the media. If she has CHOSEN to follow a harmless tradition instead of entering a traditional family making political statements at the outset, it just shows that she is a thinking woman and not one to follow the trends of tokenism.
