Richard Gere is now a wanted man in India as he kissed Shilpa Shetty in a public function in India. This news is now all over Internet. Western media is giving a lot of coverage to this matter as Richard Gere is a famous actor in Hollywood and also western journalists are amused with this case against Gere.

So, what can happen to Gere?

BBC reported:

Under Indian law, a person convicted of public obscenity faces up to three months in prison, a fine or both.

Gere, star of films such as Chicago and Pretty Woman, is a Buddhist and travels to India frequently to visit the Dalai Lama, who lives in exile in the north of the country.

Three months in prison- yes, this is the maximum punishment Gere can get. Of course, Gere can easily hire top lawyers and fight the case. However, I think that Indian government will intervene and stop the farce.
