Miss India 2007: Akansha Singh A Ranchi Girl

I hope that many of you know that Ranchi is the the capital of Jharkhand. Akansha Singh is one of the finalists of finalists in Femina Miss India 2007. She was born in Ranchi but when she was a little girl, her parents moved away from this city. So, she has spent most of her life outside of Ranchi. However, she feels that she is a Ranchi girl and she belongs to this city.

The Telegraph reported:

She was born in Ranchi, then moved to Calcutta and finally to the USA.

But while talking to The Telegraph, Akansha Singh, Pantaloons Femina Miss India-2007 finalist, admits she is a Ranchi girl through and through.

And why not, for her parents are both from Ranchi. While her father, Ashok Singh, is originally a resident of Ashok Nagar, her maternal uncle still resides at Bariatu. Akansha’s biggest weaknesses — her nani, dada and dadi — are all here.

A graduate from Rutgers University in economics and mathematics, the talented Bharatnatyam dancer and a five-feet-and-10-inches tall beauty, currently works as a senior operational planner in a pharmaceutical company in New Jersey.

This is something that makes Akansha Singh stands out in a crowd. In South Asia, many people leave their city and go to the west and then love to look down upon on the city they were born in. Akansha Singh is just the opposite. She loves Ranchi with all of her heart. I do not how she will perform in Femina Miss India 2007 but I surely know that to the city dwellers of Ranchi, Akansha Singh is already a winner.

I watched Akansha Singh on SONY TV today. She is beautiful!!! She sounded to me like very down to earth, she also has excellent grace.. all of us are impressed to see her answering the questions. Also disappointed to know that she was not selected even for top ten. All of us think that decision makers made mistake by not selecting her.

Sumitra your are right about akansha. I think she is the only one who looked like a right fit for Miss India. I think it is a a great loss for Femina Miss India....I am saying this because I have seen all the girls personally.
