Sanjaya Malakar is just 17 years old but he is now the most discussed American Idol contestant in the US now. Sanjaya Malakar has survived the latest round of American Idol and he is very popular among the voters. His name indicates that he has South Asian background. In fact, his father is Bengali, Indian.

Well, Sanjaya Malakar is still largely unknown in South Asia. I cover South Asia in this blog and I try to monitor South Asian media regularly. I have not seen any media hype for Sanjaya Malakar in India or any other South Asian country.

It is nice to see Sanjaya Malakar shining in American Idol. In South Asia, you can watch American Idol in Star World (TV Channel) and they have one day delay about broadcasting the episodes of American Idol. So, just two hours ago, I saw that Sanjaya Malakar survived this round.

I am shocked to see the amount of criticism Sanjaya Malakar has been able to generate. It has made me sad too. After all, Sanjaya Malakar is just 17 years old and he is a very gentle person considering his age. I really cannot understand why so many famous people are attacking Sanjaya Malakar continuously. He is performing every week and people are voting for him because they like him.

We have decided to provide extensive coverage of Sanjaya Malakar’s quest to become an American Idol. As long as Sanjaya Malakar stays alive in American Idol, we are going to write about him.
