Now, it is lunch time at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka, Bangladesh and the first innings of the first ODI match between India and Bangladesh is over. The match has been reduced to 47 overs per side due to rain in the morning. Earlier, Bangladesh won the toss and elected to toss. Bangladesh could make a spectacular total of 250 for 7 after 47 overs.
There is a proverb, ‘morning shows the day’ and the opening pair of Bangladesh team showed it from the very beginning of the innings. 78 run partnership in the first wicket made a great base for Bangladesh team. However, after the departure of talented opener Tamim Iqbal, the Bangladesh team lost their off-form captain Habibul Bashar. Tamim aggressively scored 45 runs off 53 balls. Habibul also continued his bad form being the victim of Ramesh Power without scoring any run.

In the third wicket partnership Bangladesh got a 107 run partnership between opener Javed Omar and Saqibul Hasan. Both of them got half century. Javed scored the innings highest 80 runs off 117 balls in with 7 fours and 2 huge sixes. On the other hand, young all-rounder Saqibul Hasan got out at 50 off 68 balls in which he played 2 fours. In the end, Mohammad Ashraful played a superb innings of 29 just off 22 balls.
For Indian side, the most successful bowler is Dinesh Mongia who took 3 wickets conceding 49 runs in 10 overs. However, young pacer S Sreesanth showed tremendous performance conceding just 14 runs in his 5 overs. Ramesh Power got 2 wickets but he was very expensive conceding 55 runs in his 10 overs.
Bangladesh has put an imposing total and Indian batsmen will have to fight really hard to win the match.
Bangladesh defeated India in World Cup Cricket 2007 earlier this month.
