Bollywood is one of the top two film industries in the world (Hollywood being the other). Day by day its popularity over the world is increasing and some of the Bollywood stars are regarded as demi-gods to their fans. Now, with the influence of Bollywood, a Hindi language course is being offered in an Australian university- University of Sydney's Centre for Continuing Education (CCE). Most interesting thing is that some Australian students find the course interesting and are coming to study Hindi at CCE.
Hindustan Times reported:
Introduced in 2006 and run by Dr Philip Claxton, the Hindi language course is a thriving component of CCE's languages unit. "So far the response has been quite overwhelming and the numbers very healthy," Claxton said.
"In fact Bollywood is responsible for a large amount of interest in Hindi", he added.
CCE is a non-profit centre of the University of Sydney. Its role is to make teaching and research expertise of the University available to the public through short courses. Each year CCE publishes four general programmes, each containing around 260 courses, and a range of specialist programmes.

I think CCE officials have taken a good initiative as in this way Australian students will be able to know a lot about India. Moreover, India is the rising economic market in the world. Thus, being efficient in Hindi language, Australian people will be able to understand Indian market easily. So, I think other Australian universities should offer Hindi language to their students.
This is rubbish learning Hindi will not help learn about Indian culture this a fallacy which is promoted by the government of India. Hindi is only spoken and understood in the Northern Part of India it has no significance in the South of India. Bollywood movies are not worth wathcing they are the most unrealistic movies on earth and usually copies of other Hollywood movies.
