French Open 2007 is starting from tomorrow at Roland Garros of Paris. Sania Mirza is not a hot favorite this time. In fact, no one is expecting any upset from her and there is hardly any media spotlight on Sania Mirza at this moment. It is natural too. This is the third time that Sania Mirza is playing in French Open 2007. Her performance in the last two French Open tournaments was miserable. So, this time, Sania has to perform better.
About the challenges Sania is facing, Prajwal Hegde wrote:
A fair percentage of middle rung players, who prefer fast courts, use the clay court stretch as preparation for the upcoming grasscourt and hardcourt swings of the circuit. Coming off a two-month injury break, during which she underwent surgery, the Hyderabadi may have been excused if she toed a similar line of thought. Far from that. The 20-year-old means business on a surface that will test her strength, stamina and slow court skills. Sania's think tank has roped in former Spanish tour player Gabriel Urpi, who has previously coached Arantxa Sanchez, to help the Hyderabadi through the French Open.
So, best of luck to Sania Mirza. I have been covering Sania Mirza for the last few days. I will keep on doing so in French Open 2007. So, I hope that Sania Mirza can advance some in French Open 2007.
