
In Raqeeb, Jimmy Shergill is playing the character of Sunny, an unsuccessful actor. Sunny loved Sofie (Tanushree Datta) but Sofie rejected him for his financial instability. After Sofie’s marriage to Remo Mathews, Sunny and Sofie meet once again and fall for each other.
In the music album release ceremony of Raqeeb, Jimmy said that he liked the way the story of the movie was narrated to him. It was a very massy subject and he believed that his character would definitely excite the audience.
Jimmy Shergill is a Punjabi by birth. He got into film because his brother told him to try his luck in movies. In 1996, he came to Mumbai and took admission in Roshan Taneja’s acting school. He stayed there for one year. While he was in the school, he got the offer to work in Maachis. It was a small role and the character’s name was Jimmy. The movie got critical acclaim giving Shergill a solid ground in the industry. His next two movies did not do well but the year 2000 changed his luck. His role, Karan, a boarding school student in Aditya Chopra’s Mohabbatein propelled his career.
Except Mohabbatein, Munnabhai MBBS, and Laage Raho Munna Bhai, most of his films did not do well in box office. This year, before Raqeeb, another movie,
