Tanushree Dutta may be a new comer but you will be amazed if you browse the net with her name. Hundreds and thousands of web pages containing pictures of this 5' 8 actress will appear. You will grow tired but it will not end. Tanushree Dutta is one of those lucky girls who does not have to worry about getting success in Bollywood. Her rise to stardom can be described with Julius Caeser’s famous phrase “I came, I saw, I conquered.”

A Bengali beauty:

Tanushree Dutta is a Bengali girl. I do not know who gave the name but it is a perfect one. “Tanu” in Bengali means body and “Shree” means beautiful. Although Bengali, Tanushree Dutta was born in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. She graduated from Pune in communications.

A girl who expects more from life:
Tanushree Dutta comes from a very middle class family. His father is an employee of Life Insurance Corporation of India. Her father wanted her to study MBA and her mother wanted her to become an IAS officer. However, she had bigger plans. After finishing her school in Jharkhand Tanushree Dutta came to Mumbai and enrolled at Brihan Maharashtra College of Commerce. She even participated and won Miss BMCC crown.

Early career:
Tanushree used to work for an event management company. She also worked as a model and did ad campaigns and music video.

Winning Miss India-Universe 2004:
Life took a sudden turn for Tanushree Dutta after she won Pond’s Femina Miss India-Universe 2004. Tanushree was 20 years old, studying Bcom. It was third time in the history of Miss India competition that the final round ended in a tie. The judges had to ask a ti-breaker question. In response to the question, “Some believe that too much of everything is as bad as too little. What do you think of this?'', Tanushree replied that it was true. Too much of anything is bad and satisfaction is the only means to a peaceful life.

Miss Universe 2004:
After winning Miss India-Universe, Tanushree prepared herself for the big game; Miss Universe 2004. Miss Universe took place on June 1 2004, in Ecuador. Tanushree Dutta made it to the final ten.

Getting into the movies:
After winning Miss India Universe 2004, Tanushree Dutta started to get film offers but she was preparing for Miss Universe. Then she came into film in 2005. Tanushree Dutta worked in two movies simultaneously: Chocolate and Aashiq Banaya Apne. Chocolate was supposed to be her first movie but it was released after Aashiq Banaya Apne.  

Aashiq Banaya Aapne- instant success & Bollywood sex symbol:
As I have mentioned earlier. Tanushree Dutta is one of those few fortunate women who does not have to for a hit film. Her first movie, Aashiq Banaya Aapne was very successful and turned her into a star overnight. The film is a love triangle. Karan (Sonu Sood) is an introvert person who is deeply in love with Sneha (Tanushree Dutta) but does not have the courage to tell her. Vicky (Emraan Hashmi) is Karan’s childhood friend and a total opposite of Karan’s character; an extrovert and a lady’s man. At one point of the movie, the three unites, and Sneha and Vicky come close. Karan feels threatened by this and tries to stop Vicky but fails. The film ends when Vicky finds out Karan’s weakness for Sneha and appears at their engagement party. Directed by Aaditya Datt, the film has nothing special except three things: Tanushree Dutta, Emran Hashmi, and Himesh Reshammiya’s music. Emran Hashmi and Tanushree’s on screen kissing scene and love scene worked like hot spice. The song “Aashiq Banaya Aapne” sung by Himesh was a super hit. The music video of the remix version became very popular. Aashiq Banaya Aapne established Tanushree Dutta in Bollywood but not as an actress rather sex symbol.

Chocolate:
The movie has an uncommon story about seven characters: Krish (Anil Kapoor), a lawyer; Rocker (Sunil Shetty), an obsessed lover; Pipi (Irfan Khan), an artist and a thinker; Tubby (Arshad Warsi), a playboy; Sim (Tanushree Dutta), a temptress;Devaa (Emran Hashmi), a musician; and Mansoon (Sushma Reddy), a journalist. The movie did not do well but the music was popular. Pritam, the music director of Tanushree Dutta’s latest movie composed songs of Chocolate.

Risk- tragic story of an honest police officer:
Suryakant (Randeep Hooda) is an honest police officer who hates crimes and criminals and never makes any compromise. His close people include his mother and girl friend, Shradha (Tanushree Dutta). There comes a point in his life where he could not fight crime by being a police officer. Suryakant starts working for a gangster. As he gets deeper into the crime world he takes out the masterminds one by one and finally the boss. The movie ends with a fight scene inside the jail where Suryakant kills the head of the gang, Khalid bin Jamal (Vinod Khanna). Risk is not like typical Hindi movies. It explores the dark side of a law enforcer. The movie was liked by the audience. Tanushree was not present on the screen for a long time but she got positive reviews.

Raqeeb- first negative role:

A musical thriller, Raqeeb is a story of three men and their relationship with one woman. Sofie (Tanushree Dutta) an aspiring theatre actress wants to have a successful man as her life partner. Remo Mathews, a computer genius and owner of a software company meets Sofie on a blind date. The two fall in love and get married. Remo and Sofie have a strange connection. Remo’s parents died in a car crash and Sofie’s parents also died in that same car crash. Sofie holds Remo responsible for her parents’ death. The story takes a turn after Sofie’s ex-boyfriend, Sunny (Jimmy Shergill) appears. Sunny is a struggling actor. Their old love is revived and they decide to kill Remo and make the whole thing look like a natural death. On the final day, when Sunny reaches Remo’s house, he finds him dead and gets arrested. In this movie Tanushree Dutta has done a negative character. This is her first appearance in a negative role. Despite her unwillingness, she had to do two love scenes with Jimmy Shergill and Rahul Khanna in this movie.
