Raqeeb: Sharman Joshi becomes a playboy
Do you remember Sukhi, the happy-go-lucky guy in Rang De Basanti or Chantu, the naughty boy of Style and Excuse Me? Till now, Sharman Joshi has been doing comedy characters. Now it is time to get serious. In 2007, Sharman has done two movies; Life in a Metro and Raqeeb.

Life In a Metro has been released last Friday and Raqeeb is lined up for next Friday. In Life in a Metro, Sharman plays the character Rahul, who works in a call center. In Raqeeb, he is playing the character of a play boy who wants to live his life to the fullest. Sharman felt that the story of the film was intuitive. Indya.com reports:

On playing a different role in Raqeeb, Sharman says, "It was not a deliberate attempt to act in a serious film. I found the subject intuitive. My character is that of a businessman, who is connected with Rahul Khanna. Our relation is not that of business associates. We are good friends and I try to bring Tanushree close to him. I am playing a passionate guy, who likes to live his life to the fullest. There is no heroine opposite me and I play a man of many women."

Sharman has always been very choosy in selecting his roles and has never featured in a solo hero project. "If a character does not excite me, even if the script is great, I may not go for it and vice versa. I have not yet found a script with a solo hero subject exciting. I hope I will get one very soon.

Sharman Joshi Raqeeb

Sharman Joshi has been acting in films since 1999. Within eight years, he has made a good reputation in Bollywood. He has done comedy and mainstream cinemas but his comedy roles made him a known face to the Hindi movie goers. Son of famous Gujarati theatre actor, writer, and director Arvind Joshi, Sharman started with a small role in critically acclaimed movie, Godmother. It won six national awards. In 2001, Sharman Joshi landed with his first movie as a hero; Style. The movie did not do well but Sharman’s comedy acting was very much appreciated. A sequel of the movie, Excuse Me was released in 2003. Sharman Joshi got audience’s attention after his performance in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Rang De Basanti and Golmaal.

Raqeeb

A good actor is never afraid of doing new roles. It is a great risk but worth taking. Sharman Joshi has taken that risk in 2007 and I am confident that audience will enjoy Sharman Joshi in Raqeeb.
