Directed by Vishram Swanth, Risk reveals the dark side of a law enforcer. In typical Hindi movies, the good always triumphs over evil; like poetic justice. Risk is not such movie. It shows how much sacrifice an honest police officer has to make if he has to uphold law in a corrupted legal system. Vishram Swanth got inspiration from real life encounter specialist Daya Nayak.
Suryakant (Randeep Hooda) is an honest police officer but his honesty has made him a major problem in police force. Many of his colleagues and superiors are not happy with him. He hates crimes and criminals and kills them in a cold blood. He has a mother and a girl friend, Shraddha.
Khalid(Vinod Khanna) is a big gangster. Based in Hong Kong he runs his business in India. Police commissioner, minister and many other influencial people are on his pay role. Suryakant kills many men of Khalid in encounter. At first Khalid tries to bribe him but he does not agree. So Khalid sets him up in a false case and tarnishes his reputation. Suryakant has no way but to join Khalid’s gang. However, he has another plan in his mind. As he gets into the gang, he starts to kill all the people who work for Khalid. In the end, Suryakant kills Khalid but he also pays the price for his honesty with his life.
Risk is not the first of its kind. Aab Tak Chhapan, Shool also tell the tragic stories of honest police officers.Risk is not a typical Hindi movie. It reveals the dark side of a police officer’s life. Tanushree Dutta has a small presence on the screen as Suryakant’s girl friend. Her item song in the movie is a major distraction.
