Sania Mirza: No Title in Istanbul Open

Sania Mirza has failed to win the doubles title of the Istanbul Open in Turkey. In the final Sania Mirza and Chan Yung-Jan from Taiwan could not continue their excellent performance they had been showing throughout the tournament. They lost the match to the sister pair Agnieszka Radwanska and Urszula Radwanska from

Poland

by 1-6, 3-6. The result is enough to make you guess that how much one-sided the match was.

Sania Mirza's hope of winning back-to-back WTA doubles title came a cropper, as she and her new partner Chan Yung-Jan of Chinese Taipei surrendered tamely 1-6, 3-6 to Polish pair of Agnieszka Radwanska and Urszula Radwanska in the finals of the 200,000-dollar Istanbul Cup here today.
The top-seeded Indo-Taipei pair were no match for Radwanska sisters as they just managed to win one game in the first set.
However in the second set, Sania and Chan tried their level best to get back into rhythm, but it eventually proved futile as the Polish pair wrapped up the match 3-6 to clinch the title.

Last week, Sania won the Morocco Open along with Vania King from the US. Sania Mirza is going to participate in the upcoming French Open 2007. Sania has recently recovered from an injury. Now, it is yet to see that how far Sania can go in the French Open.
