You might have already known that India’s tennis idol Sania Mirza is out of the women’s singles event of French Open 2007. Sania lost the match to Serbian Ana Ivanovic, the no. 7 seed in the world, at the second round. However, Sania recorded her first ever French Open win in the first round of this tournament. In the first round, Sania did an excellent performance defeating Alberta Brianti of Italy by 6-1, 6-1.

After the stunning victory, Sania Mirza in an interview denied that she was leaving India in order to concentrate more on tennis. There were some rumors that Sania Mirza might leave India and live in USA for having better training and other facilities. However, the 20 year old tennis star has said that she does not want to leave India.

The Peninsula Qatar reported:

The 20-year-old pin-up has been encouraged to base herself in the United States to train and to also escape the weight of expectancy on her shoulders after her rise in the women’s game.

But she said she will never leave her Hyderabad home.

“Everything I am today, I am because of India,” she said.

“Of course there are lots of times when you just want your privacy. It’s hard when you are one in a billion,” added Mirza referring to the lack of other similarly talented women players in the sub-continent.
