SPIDER-MAN 3: Five major movies of Tobey Maguire

Tobey Maguire has been working in movies since the 90’s but has not achieved sky high popularity like other Hollywood actors. The reason is probably, he does not bother about working in big budget movies. He likes to do movies which he feels comfortable with. He plays characters that suit his temper. He is not a household name in USA. Most of the time, Maguire has worked in low budget movies. Playing the character of "Our Friendly Neighborhood, Spider-Man" has brought him to audience's attention.

Some of Maguire's major movies are: Seabiscuit, Wonder Boys, The Cider House Rules, The Ice Storm, The Good German.

Seabiscuit

It is the story of a legendary race horse named Seabiscuit. During the "Great Depression Era" at the United States of America, this horse turned into a symbol of hope and success. The trainer who turned him into a champion was Red Pollard. Maguire played the character of Red Pollard in 2003 movie Seabiscuit. The movie was also nominated for Oscar but lost to Lord of the Rings.

The Good German

The Good German:

Nominated for Academy Awards in 2006, The Good German is based on the novel of Joseph Kanon. On the surface the film is a murder mystery but it basically deals with German atrocities during World War II.

Wonder Boys

Wonder Boys:

Based on the novel of Michael Chabon, Wonder Boys is a movie about university students. It beautifully catches the campus life in USA. Tobey Maguire plays the character “James Leer,” a student of d Pittsburgh University and a good writer.

The Cider House

The Cider House Rules:

Released in 1999, this movie is about Homer Wells (Tobey Maguire), an orphan boy who grew up in an orphanage run by Dr. Wilbur Larch. Eventually, he meets and falls in love with Candy Kendall. The movie ends when Homer finally finds a place where he truly belongs.

 Ice Storm

Ice storm:
