
The home town hero was given a warm welcome by the people. USA Today reports:
Tobey Maguire, who plays Peter Parker/Spider-Man, along with his on-screen love, Kirsten Dunst, and the rest of the cast, walked a black carpet, in keeping with the new color of Peter's changed superhero suit. In the film, which opens Friday, Peter Parker faces two new villains,
Crowds swarmed to catch a glimpse of the stars as they arrived. "This is by far the biggest turnout we've had," James Franco said. (The movie has had multiple premieres around the world.)
In the film, he plays Parker's pal Harry Osborn. And who does Franco consider a hero? "I have acting heroes. (Tribeca founder Robert) De Niro being one."
The movie premiere took place at UA Kaufman Astoria 14 theatre. The day was also special for Kirsten Dunst, who played Mary Jane, in this episode. It was her 25th birthday and the elated fans sung “Happy Birthday” to her. Tobey Maguire came with his fiancée, Jennifer Meyer. He gave autographs to the fans.
The premiere turned out to be a big ceremony. Three of city blocks were filled with people and a marching band performed before the cast and crew of the movie arrived. The premiere started with an official declaration of “Spider-Man Week” by Michael Bloomberg, the Mayor.
