Tobey Maguire is not the kind of actor who only sign up movies that contains big time directors and producers. Till now, he has appeared in low budget movies which have serious stories; except Spider-Man. Not only the film is big budget but it also contains lots of action sequences, and special effects. This has been a big challenge for the actor and definitely he has lived up to the challenge. People around the world has accepted and adored him as their FRIENDLY NIGHBOURHOOD SPIDER-MAN!
Spider-Man is the story of an ordinary American young man, Peter Parker. His interest in books and studies keeps him away from socializing with his classmates. He can be easily labeled as a NERD or GEEK. Spider-Man 1 &2 shows the journey of Peter Parker from normal young man to Spider-Man, a crime fighter. His love relationship with Marry Jane is another sub story. He loves her but can not understand how to express it. In the Spider-Man 3, he has to fight with his inner demon and three other villains: sandman, venom and goblin. His relationship with Marry Jane is also facing another new problem as there is another new lady who likes Peter; Gwen Stacy.
Director Sam Raimi says,
"What I saw within his performance was a sensitivity and a vulnerability that I felt the character had to have," Raimi recalls. "There was an outcry at the time that he was wrong, that he was never going to be Peter Parker. But I was never bothered by that. Because although I'm a very insecure person, I was very confident I knew the character, knew who he was, and that these people were thinking of some hero called Spider-Man. And that the real heart of Spider-Man was this kid behind the mask. That's what I was going to make this movie about."
The special thing about Tobey is that in real life he is a low profile actor (by that I do not mean he has no talent. He does what he likes. It is not for fame). This also resembles with Peter Parker, who likes to keep it low-profile. Tobey has been able to exhibit this aspect of the character successfully.
