M S Dhoni is in superb form these days and his performance in the recently concluded Afro-Asia Cup 2007. In the final match of Afro-Asia Cup 2007, Dhoni scored 139 runs from just 97 balls. It is nothing new for Dhoni. We have seen him several times hitting big scores within a short time. Dhoni is a good wicketkeeper too. He is an excellent ODI player. So, it is nice to see that Dhoni has been made vice-captain of Indian ODI team.

Cybernoon reported:
Virender Sehwag, Harbhajan Singh and an injured Munaf Patel were today axed from both the ODI and Test squads for the upcoming tour of
Ireland and, while M S Dhoni was appointed vice captain for the one dayers. England Veterans Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly, who were rested for the one-day series in
last month, were included in the 15-member ODI squad. Chairman of the Selectors Dilip Vengsarkar defended Dhoni’s elevation and said, “he is a thinking cricketer, who has done extremely well. We wanted to promote him and so decided to appoint him the vice captain for the series.” Bangladesh
It will be nice if BCCI tries to groom Dhoni as the next captain of Indian ODI team. However, there is too much politics in Indian cricket and I am not sure if Dhoni will have a smooth time.
