It is called as Bollywood Oscars and this time it is taking place in Yorkshire (England). International Indian Film Awards (IIFA) 2007 has literally created a huge buzz in the world. Today, I was going through some of news items in Internet and I was stunned by the media coverage given to IIFA 2007. Even mighty Washington Post has published a report about IIFA 2007 with a lot of importance. In the ceremony, Rang de Basanti was awarded as the best Indian movie.

Directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and starring Aamir Khan, Rang De Basanti tells the story of a young London based film maker who chances upon the diaries of her grandfather who served in the British police force in India and draws parallels between 1930s India and the present day.

A huge crowd attended IIFA 2007. Nearly 12,000 spectators were there to cheer every award given. Millions of people enjoyed IIFA 2007 in television across the world. I feel that it may just be a turning point for Bollywood movies. Until now, Bollywood films have not got the fame it deserves. Let us hope that IIFA 2007 can change it.
