Some interesting facts about Rani Mukherjee (2)
Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998): The role Rani Mukherjee played in this movie was first offered to Twinkle Khanna, one of the then popular Bollywood actresses. After Twinkle turned it down, it was offered to Urmilla Matondkar, Raveena Tandon, Aishwarya Rai and Karisma Kapoor.

Director Karan Johar never thought of Rani Mukherjee for the character “Tina Malhotra.” He even wanted to Rani Mukherjee’s husky voice which has made her more popular. According to Shah Rukh khan, it was he who first suggested Rani Mukherjee’s name to Karan Johar after he watched the promo of Rani’s first movie Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat.  

Badal (2000): Rani was not the first choice of director Raj Kanwar. It was Karisma Kapoor.

In Veer-Zaara (2004), Rani Mukerji plays the character of a lawyer, Saamiya Siddiqui. For this character, Aishwarya Rai was the first choice. 

The Rising: Ballad of Mangal Pandey (2005): You all remember “Jwala”(Amisha Patel) in Mangal Pandey. The role was first offered to Aishwarya Rai but she turned it down and it was offered to Rani but Rani liked the character “Heera.”

Bunty aur Bably Abhishek Bachchan Rani Mukherjee 

Bunty aur Babli (2005): Another major milestone movie in Rani’s career,where Rani Mukherjee appears with Abhishek Bachchan for the second time. For her character “Babli,” actress Preity Zinta was first approached but she did not do it. For Abhishek Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan was the first choice but he also did not want to do the movie.

Kajol was the first choice of director Karan Johar for the character of “Maya Talwar” in Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (2006). Since, Kajol acted in Karan’s first successful movie, he considered Kajol as his lucky charm. However, Kajol was already engaged with Faana (2006) and could not give date. Again, Rani Mukarji walked in and filled the spot and you all know the end result. The movie created huge controversy for the subject it dealt with. The movie did great business in Europe. It broke the record of Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001), the previous block buster of Karan Johar. Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna opened in 1200 theatres around the world.
