Indian tennis star Sania Mirza is going to appear in Wimbledon 2007 next week. In the first round, Sania will face Russian teenager Yaloslava Shvedova. The difference between the two is clear in their raking. 19 year old Yaloslava Shvedova is now at 80^th position in the WTA ranking while Sania Mirza is the 46^th ranked tennis player. However, Sania’s recent performance is not satisfactory and to tell the truth, she is not in her top form at this moment. Just few weeks ago, Sania took part in French Open 2007 where she could not impress her fans with a second round exit from the women’s singles.

Friday's draw pitted Sania, ranked 46th in the world, against the 80th ranked Russian, who could not get past the opening round in her maiden appearance last year.

Sania, who turns 21 in November, has herself never advanced beyond the second round at Wimbledon in her previous two outings.

In the doubles, Sania partners Shahar Peer of Israel. They face Sofia Arvidsson of Sweden and Lilia Osterloh of the US in the opening round.

Well, there is no doubt that Sania Mirza has already been the best ever tennis start of India considering her performances and success in international tennis. Last year, she got injured that kept her out of the court for several months. After coming back to the court, she could rarely find her form and she is now struggling in the court. I think that Sania is now more focused on her TV commercials and endorsement deals than Tennis.
