All about Rani Mukherjee (3)

Rani Mukherjee has won more than 60 awards till now.

In 2004, Rani Mukherjee won Filmfare award in Best Supporting Actress category for her role in Yuva and Best Actress category for Hum Tum. She is the only actress with such a record.

Till now, Rani Mukherjee has won Film Fare Awards six times. Kajol’s maternal aunt, Nutan Behl won Filmfare Awards for six times and held the record of highest winner.

Two of Rani Mukherjee’s movies: Hey Ram (2000) and Paheli (2006); were submitted to Oscars in 2000 and 2006. 

Three of her movies: Black, Paheli and Veer-Zaara, were submitted to 63rd Annual Golden Globe Awards.

In 2006, Paheli was the opening movie of the ninth Zimbabwe International Film Festival in Harare.    

Filmfare Awards:

  • In 1998, Rani won Film Fare award for Best Supporting actress for Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.
  • In 2002, Rani Mukherjee won Film Fare Critics Award for her performance in Saathiya.
  • As I have mentioned earlier, in 2004, Rani Mukherjee won Film Fare Awards in Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress category.
  • In 2005, for her performance in Black, Rani Mukherjee again won Film Fare Awards in two categories: Best Actress and Best performance. Black is not only a major movie in Rani Mukherjee’s career but also one of the all time best Indian movies. The movie is based on the life of Hellen Keller.
  • After winning Film Fare awards in 1998 for Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Rani Mukherjee signed twenty two movies.

Star Screen Awards

  • In 1997, for her performance in Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat, Rani Mukherjee received Star Screen Awards as Best Fresh Talent.   
  • In 2003, Rani Mukherjee received Star Screen Special Jury Award for her performance in Saathiya.
  • In 2005, for Hum Tum, Rani Mukherjee received Star Screen Best Actress Award.
  • That same year, she received Star Screen Best Supporting Actress Award for her role "Sashi Biswas" in Yuva.
  • In 2006, Rani won Star Screen Best Actress Award for her performance in Black.
  • That same year, Rani Mukherjee and Abhishek Bachchan won Star Screen Jodi No.1 Award for Bunty aur Bubli.
  • In 2007, Rani Mukherjee and Shah Rukh Khan won Star Screen Jodi No.1 Award for Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna.

Zee Cine Award:

  • In 1999, Rani Mukherjee won Zee Cine Award in Best Supporting Role category for her performance in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.  
  • That same year, she won Zee Cine Awards Lux Face of the Year. 
  • In 2005 Rani won Zee Cine Award Best Female Actor Award for Hum Tum.
  • In 2006, she won Zee Cine Award Best Female Actor for Black.

International Indian Film Academy Award (IIFA):

  • In 2005, Rani Mukherjee won the prestigious IIFA award in two categories. For her performance in Veer-Zara, Rani Mukherjee received IIFA Best Supporting Actress Award. For Hum Tum Rani received IIFA Best Actress Award.  
  • In 2006, Rani Mukherjee received IIFA Best Actress Award for Black.
  • In 2007, Rani Mukherjee again received IIFA Best Actress Award for Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna.
