Asian Cup Football 2007 is going to start from this Saturday. It is not exactly a world class tournament but that does not take any excitement from the football fans in Asia. Asian fans do not care that they could never become the world champion but they love football.

Vietnam has never won the title of AFC Asian Cup but this does not matter to their fans. Vietnam is one of the hosting countries of AFC Asian Cup 2007 and that is why the fans are now excited and trying to get tickets to enjoy the matches of their football team. However, tickets are hard to come by and many fans are trying desperately.

VietNamNet reported:

To have a chance to watch matches of the Vietnamese team, Vietnamese fans now have to buy tickets from scalpers or wait till tomorrow, July 5. According to a ticket seller, around 1,000 tickets were sold on the first day, July 4.

Most of the 1,000 tickets sold this morning were for companies and organisations that had booked in advance, not individuals.

Meanwhile, scalpers are offering high prices for tickets, from VND400,000 to VND600,000/two tickets compared to the face price of VND160,000/two tickets.

This is the appeal of football in Asia. Unfortunately, FIFA officials are just thinking of Europe and this way, they are losing a big market here in Asia.
