TV commercials: In Chakpak it is mentioned that her first TV commercial was Ponds. In an interview published in The Statesman, she also mentioned Ponds to be her first TV commercial but in another interview published in Tips.in, it is mentioned that her first TV commercial is Mc Donalds. She also appeared in TV commercials for Garnier, TBZ, Globus, Kit Kat, and Monte Carlo.

Music videos: She has appeared in two music videos. “Something Something Meri Jaan,” sung by Mika, professional singer and brother of famous Punjabi singer, Daler Mehndi. She also appeared in Atif Aslam’s music video, Doorie.    

Family: Urvashi Sharma comes from a middle class Punjabi family. Her father is a government employee and mother is a house wife. They are three sisters. Sucheta is one year older than Urvashi and they look a lot alike. Like Urvashi Sharma, Sucheta is also a professional model and she is also looking forward to become an actress. 

 

Fitness Mantra: Since school, Urvashi Sharma has been a very active girl. She played basketball, swimming and athletics. Now days, she keeps herself in shape by swimming and jogging. Every day, she swims eighty lengths.

Favorite work out: Swimming.

Foods: Urvashi Sharma does not believe in dieting. Her favorite foods are sushi, Punjabi, and Chinese. Urvashi loves to eat and she sheds off her extra calorie by swimming. 

Education: Presently, Urvashi Sharma is finishing her BSC final year. Because of the nature of her work, she was having problem in attending classes. After finishing her 12^th standard, she has been studying through correspondence.

• Urvashi was brought up in Delhi. Since childhood, she wanted to become a model. She started as a model in Delhi and then came to Mumbai. Her family has no connection with movie industry.
• Her modeling contracts are managed by Elite Model Management India.
• Although in various websites and news reports her height is mentioned 5 feet 8 inch, it is actually 5 feet 7 inch. Because of her height, she did not make many runaway appearances.
• Urvashi has been modeling for three years and has achieved great success within such a short time.
• Urvashi Sharma’s sister, Sucheta Sharma, is a professional model. When Urvashi decided to come to Mumbai for modeling her sister helped her a lot.   
• Before joining film industry, famous ad film maker of India, Prahlad Kakkar, told Urvashi Sharma to do homework and prepare herself in advance. Accordingly, Urvashi Sharma joined Vidhur’s Creating Characters acting school. She is a very good dancer. She also attended Kathak classes.
• Urvashi does not have any problem wearing revealing clothes. If wearing such clothes suits the character she is doing then she has no problem with it.

There are so many upcoming stars in Bollywood. What makes Urvashi Sharma stand out? What is her trump card?

Tips films are charting out my career. I am contracted with them. Though I am on contract with Tips, I can do films with other banners too. Naqaab is the first film in an eight-film contract in five years with Tips films. It’s the biggest contract ever signed in Bollywood with a newcomer.

Besides they have presented me so well, first in Mika’s sensual video, followed by Atif’s Doorie and a very complex role in Naqaab, which will showcase my versatility.

It’s great to be promoted by Tips films. It’s such a professionally managed company. Kumar Taurani and Ramesh Taurani are so professional in their approach. I am living my dreams. They have launched such successful actors as Preity Zinta, Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao

Did you always want to be a model? You had a successful career in modelling. Was acting a natural progression? How did this role in Naqaab come about?

I was always interested in acting. Modeling helped me start my journey towards it. I had no background or support that would take me to my dreams. I had to work hard towards it.

I started off with doing campaigns for Ponds, Garnier, Kit Kat, Airtel etc. in Delhi. Since I had no one to back me, I signed with Elite Modeling Agency, which professionally managed my career.

Due to my ad campaigns, which were simultaneously splashed across all media, I caught the attention of the producers at Tips films. That’s how they signed me on for an eight-film contract with their talent division at Tips. I did a screen test for Naqaab and was then signed for the film.

What was your first modelling assignment?

Ponds. One of the milestones in my life.

Why did you agree to this role as your debut?

It’s a dream role for any newcomer. It’s a film by a master of the thriller genre, Abbas-Mustan, who had directed Shilpa Shetty in her first film. It’s a complex role for my first film, wherein I can showcase all emotions. Can it get better than this?

Is this the first time you were acting? Do you have a flair for it? Have you acted in school plays or things before?

I always wanted to be centre stage at school. I used to perform quite a bit during school days. Maybe it all started naturally there.

Would you be comfortable working in a film that requires you to wear revealing clothes? Are you inhibited about your body?

I am a model and posses a good figure. I am quite comfortable with my body. If I am playing a certain character that justifies it, with a right set up, then its fine with me...

What’s your take on a woman expressing her sexuality?

Everyone has unique identities, to each its own…

What’s your take on item numbers? Would you say ‘yes’ to one?

As I said earlier it all depends upon the set up and the situation. I have no problems doing an item number. It’s an opportunity. Besides I am a good dancer, which is so essential in Bollywood. It’s good to be a complete package.
 

Urvashi’s experience with Akshay Khanna and Bobby Deol was just great. According to Urvashi, Bobby Deol is a very patient man and a nice person. On the set, Bobby showed her free style dance. Akshay Khanna is also a great actor. He would show her how to act when she got confused. Urvashi had a nice time with both of them.

• The releasing ceremony of Naqaab was organized by Fame Cinema.

• Both Urvashi and Bobby Deol are Punjabis which is why Urvashi felt very comfortable working with Bobby. On her arrival on the set, he used to ask her, “Ki Haal Hain?” (What’s up?). Urvashi Sharma enjoyed very much working with Bobby. She said that Bobby Deol is a very patient man. Bobby even gave her some dancing tips on the set. Bobby also enjoyed working with Urvashi Sharma. According to Bobby, though a new comer, Urvashi is very confident. 
• Urvashi Sharma maintained a very low profile till the release of Naqaab. She did not give any interview. According to producer Ramesh Taurani, this is a marketing strategy for the movie. Naqaab was released on July 13^th.
• Urvashi Sharma did a stunt scene herself in Naqaab. In one of the songs, Urvashi Sharma was supposed to drive a motorboat. For the first time, when Urvashi shot the scene, she lost control of the boat and fell into water. Director Abbas-Mustan wanted to use a stunt double but Urvashi insisted to do it all by herself. Despite the directors warning, Urvashi drove the boat at a high speed. The director was worried but she controlled the boat pretty well and the shot was perfect. Urvashi Sharma’s dedication impressed the director very much.
