The movie was mostly shot in Nitin Desai’s Karjat studio because Hrithik Roshan requested Ashutosh to choose a place near
Though outsiders, uncalled visitors were not allowed to enter into the shooting spot of Jodha Akbar , there were frequent visitors. Among them included- Smt Vasundhara Raje Scindia; the Chief Minister of Rajasthan, famous British actor; Ralph Fiennes, Sanjay Dutt, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Amitabh Bachchan, and famous director; Sudhir Mishra. Sunita, Ashutosh’s wife and executive producer of the movie said, “Sudhir was just around the corner. So he dropped by. Ashu (Ashutosh) and Sudhir are colleagues. True, we don’t allow visitors, but Sudhir just happened to be at the studio and he came over.”
Ashutosh Gowariker may be a director who looks at the minutest detail but Hrithik Roshan is no less. While shooting a scene with Aishwarya Rai, Hrithik suddenly cried out “Cut.” Later, it was found out that Aishwarya Rai’s hair was falling upon her forehead which would have ruined the shot. It was supposed to be a close up shot of Aishwarya Rai. Aishwarya Rai who was also a hardworking, dedicated and perfectionist actress instantly called her hair stylist and fixed the problem.
Hrithik himself appeared in the battle scenes. While shooting a sword fight, Hrithik was injured by Aishwarya Rai. Hrithik even shot a battle scene riding on elephant.
During the dubbing it, was strictly observed that Hrithik and Aishwarya properly pronounce the Urdu words in the script.
For playing the character of Akbar, Hrithik had to put on weight and grow moustache. In the beginning, he was not very much interested but when he found out that the net attached to the false moustache was visible in the picture, he decided to grow real moustache.
After her marriage, upon going to the shooting, Aishwarya Bachchan received cordial congratulations from every one. She brought laddoos for the crews.
